North India (RAJASTHAN) - DIWALI Festival of Lights
The Diwali Festival or Festival of Lights is an event full of magic and meaning for Hindu culture and it is also one of the most famous in all of Asia. In this part of the world, we are used to the new year coming in January. However, if we travel to other cultures, such as Chinese or Hindu culture, we will find out that it happens on a different date.
The Diwali festival is one of India’s most important cultural legacies. A country where we can not only enjoy cultural festivals, but also beautiful palaces and architectural works of art. And for the more adventurous, what better way than to start a new year with a visit to RAJASTHAN.
- Flight Paris / Delhi
- Arrive at Delhi International Airport around late evening or early morning on the 18th.
- Assistance by English-speaking representative and transfer to the hotel.
Delhi, with a population of 14 million, is divided between the old and the new city. NEW DELHI with its wide, cool and clean avenues, OLD DELHI with its small streets teeming with temples, monuments and bazaars. Eight imperial dynasties and a republic made the present city.
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Then departure for Nawalgarh, a small feudal principality in the very picturesque region of Shekawati.
- Lunch along the way.
- Discovery of the havelis.
- Dwellings of maharajahs and merchants with their galleries festooned with domes and naïve paintings full of color. You will discover the houses entirely covered with frescoes illustrating, war legends, daily life of religieuse figures.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Departure by road to Bîkaner, a city in the Thar desert, former princely capital of the fifteenth century. The city rises on a small plateau which gives it an imposing air which is further reinforced by the marvellous crenelated ramparts that surround it. Bikaner is the birthplace of the famous Camel Corp which played a big role in the desert wars.
- Upon arrival in Bikaner, lunch and check-in at the hotel.
- The visit of the city of Bîkaner: the Junagarh Fort. You will take a ride of the old city by tuk tuk to mingle with the Indian people and understand the local life and the original meaning of India with the colours and cows strolling on the Indian streets. Walk through the local vegetable market and cake tasting at a very famous pastry shop.
- At the end of the day, continue to the hotel in Bikaner.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Departure for Jaisalmer, a magnificent caravan city founded in 1155 by the Rao Jaisal. The city is a jewel, the balconies and the facades of the houses worked like lace, the beautiful fortress, will leave you dreaming.
- Lunch in the ancient Pokhran Palace with a museum visit in the old part of the palace.
- On arrival, check in at the hotel, then visit the Maharawal cenotaphs. Under the dome of each cattery is a small stele representing a "sati", a sovereign who set herself on fire so as not to outlive her royal husband. We'll watch the sunset over Jaisalmer.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

- Visit the old city, a magnificent caravan city founded in 1156 by Rawal Jaisal. You will walk through the narrow streets lined with stone benches polished by the years to admire the 'Havélis' these sumptuous painted residences, most of which were erected by wealthy Marwari merchants. (Merchants) of the eighteenth century and whose balconies with clerestory are quite extraordinary.
- You will visit the 12th century fortress that dominates the entire desert, surrounded by a double wall from the 15th and 16th centuries that houses the old Maharaja's palace with its carved façade and numerous rooms decorated with mosaics and paintings, and the finely crafted white marble Jain temples in which you will discover carved and colourful figures and mirror inlays typical of Rajasthan.
- Visit of desert women's cooperative and local handmade textile.
- Late afternoon excursions to the Sam Dunes and camel ride at sunset.
- Lunch and dinner at the hotel. (Free time at noon to enjoy massage)

- Continue by road to Jodhpur, the ancient capital of Marwar which, at the gates of the Thar desert, seems to emerge from the sands. Enclosed between its walls pierced by seven massive gates, the old, fortified city, once a caravan centre and a flourishing city watched over by the fortress of Mehrangarh, has hardly changed since the time of the Great Mughals.

- City tour. The city stands in the heart of the desert. It is surrounded by a wall 10 km in circumference that protects it from the sand. You will see the Mehrangarh Fort, which must have been practically impregnable in times of war. For many miles around, it dominates the landscape. It is home to exquisite palaces decorated with wall frescoes and stone lace. Then the Jaswant Thada, built of white marble, is the memorial of the deceased kings of Jodhpur.
- In the evening, a walk in the city where the women of Jodhpur dressed in colorful saris are a spectacle in themselves. You will of course go to the spice souk set up around the clock tower.

- Along the way, visit the Jain temples of Ranakpur, whose twenty-nine halls supported by two hundred pillars have managed to escape looting. Adinath, to whom these temples are dedicated, is represented in the acrobatic positions of the Hindu deities. In the midst of this profusion of sculptures standing the central sanctuary, it has no less than twenty domes of different sizes and heights. It is an extraordinary example of the virtuosity of the craftsmen of the time who cut marble with the refinement of a goldsmith. (The temple open at noon).
- Depart for Udaipur – one of India’s most romantic cities, Udaipur has been dubbed the "City of Dreams" and the "City of the Rising Sun." Maharana Udai Singh had the Blue Lakes, (which reflect the hills of the Aravalli Mountains) built for the needs of his new capital. The old town was surrounded by a fortified enclosure with 11 entrance gates, the ruins of which can still be seen. There are several magnificent palaces to visit in this alluring city, including the Hotel "Palais du Lac," an elegant whimsical white marble hotel.
- On arrival, check in to the hotel and then free time.
- Lunch in Ranakpur at the local pizzeria.
- Overnight and dinner at the hotel.
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Then visit the city and the palace of Udaipur.
- Visit the City of Dawn, one of India's most romantic cities! Your morning will be spent in peace and tranquillity as you discover the labyrinths of the City Palace or Maharaja's Palace is the largest marble and granite complex in Rajasthan. The first building was built by Udai Singh, and then his successors added new wings, creating a real labyrinth. This palace contains magnificent rooms richly decorated.
- Visit the Sahelion-ki-Bari, with its pond covered with lotus flowers and marble fountains. Maharana Sangram Singh had this beautiful garden built in 1710 for his queen's bridesmaids. It is a pleasure garden nicknamed the Garden of the Bridesmaids because the women of the royal family came to walk there. It has several beautiful fountains, kiosks and marble elephants. Its calm and atmosphere make it a popular place for walks.
- Rest of the free time to discover bazaars, swimming pool or independent activities.
- In the late afternoon, boat trip on Lake Pichola (Not Private); to the island of Jag Mandir from where you will witness a beautiful sunset over the city.
- Lunch at a local restaurant.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
- Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Pushkar.
- Continue to Pushkar and arrive at lunch.
- In the afternoon visit the sacred lake of Pushkar and a meeting with a priest who will explain the Indian mythology with a prayer to attend and discover spirituality and peace at the edge of the sacred lake of Pushkar.
- Drive to Jaipur.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
- Breakfast at the hotel and departure for the tour.
- Departure for the visit of the Amber Fort in the time of the Mughals, the region must have always been ready for war. Amber was the residence of the Maharajahs. By seeing the defensive forts that surround the place, you will be able to imagine the power of the character. Climb to the ramparts in a jeep.
- Discovery of the city "JANTAR MANTAR", visit of the Jantar Observatory Mantar is a witness to the passion of Maharaja Jai Singh II for astronomy. He built observatories, including that of Jaipur (1728/1733). - Continue to Agra, lunch on the road and check in at the hotel.
- At sunset visit the famous and moving Taj Mahal (closed on Fridays). It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. The construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1631, the same year as Mumtaz Mahal's death, and was not completed until 1653.

- Depart for Delhi and have lunch at a local restaurant.
- Leave for the visit of Old Delhi. The first centre of Mughal power, Old Delhi has ancient monuments, narrow streets, and bustling bazaars. Starting from the Red Fort, built in 1648, you will set off on a pedicab ride through "Chandni Chowk " or the Street of Money, where all your senses will be awakened in this very lively avenue. Then, visit the Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India, completed in 1658 by Shah Jahan who also built the Taj Mahal, and the Raj Ghat, the sober memorial of Mahatma Gandhi.
- Then we will cross the New DELHI passing by parliament, President's Palace, India Gate and Embassy District.
- Transfer to a restaurant next to the airport farewell dinner will be served.
- Transfer to the airport and departure for the return flight on 28 Oct around 1am.
